Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the team enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the traitor.
