Approximately 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after intense storm systems passed over the area, bringing powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Broad Impact
Residents observed substantial frozen pellets as large as seven centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities announced that various areas across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Response teams were working to restore energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units deployed to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Weather Woes
Meanwhile, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after Melbourne experienced its wettest day in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams handled 598 calls for help across the area, mainly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

During the peak on yesterday, more than 28,000 power users in Victoria were lacking electricity.

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along much of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
The following day was expected to become the most rainy day, with persistent thunderstorm potential anticipated across different parts of both states.

Medical authorities warned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
